FatCow to the Rescue
Ok, I realize that the title may suggest a red caped cow flying through the air faster than a speeding bullet and leaping tall buildings in a single bound both of which are not a cows strongest skills especially one that is not in the best of shape. As interesting as that may be (pay attention National Enquirer) that’s not the real story. It actually refers to my web hosting company FatCow Web Hosting. I have used FatCow for some time to host several of the non profit websites that I build and maintain. To be honest, you can’t beat the service and value which is why I use them in the first place. FatCow Web Hosting has come to my rescue. Over the last few weeks my traffic has really increased. That in turn has caused my bandwidth or allowable usage to go through the roof. When I looked at my stats for the website, I was dumb founded. The number on the screen didn’t look quite right. I was using 7 times what I was allowed to so I called support. Gordon answered my call. When I talked to Gordon, he was curious too but after a couple checks, the numbers were right. Gordon asked me what the site was for and so I told him it was a support the troops website. He thought that was really cool. He gave me a couple of suggestions on saving some money in the future by purchasing more bandwidth. I did so as soon as possible because it’s cheaper to buy ahead of time than it is after the fact. I got an email just 2 days into the new month to tell me that I was already over my limit. Once again I panicked and called support again. Gordon answered the phone again. I hope Gordon doesn’t work alone. He always seems to answer the phone. He told me once again that the numbers were correct but that he had talked to his boss to see what they could do to help me out. By the next day I was speaking to Paul who is Director of Customer Service. He told me that the executives of the company have reviewed the site and would like to help me out by sponsoring my bandwidth overages. In return I would place a banner ad on the page. It took me about 2 seconds to make up my mind. My choices were to have a huge bandwidth bill or having a sponsor. Since I don’t have a lot of money to begin with and I really like the service, the choice was simple. I am very grateful to be sponsored by FatCow because I would be using their service anyways so it works out very well. So, if you’re looking for a good value and you’re a smaller website, it’s a great deal and if you get too big, it at least looks like they are willing to work with you to point you in the right direction. That’s what customer service is all about. Thanks FatCow.
