Our thoughts and prayers are all we can give to you, god only knows from one mom to another I would gladly pick him up and put him back into your arms if that was possible, we just have to pray that god will. We have seen so many of these young men grow up, and now to know they fight for our freedom is just incredible. Any of these great hero's (and in my opinion) anyone who can and will serve in the military to fight for what is right is a true HERO. It tears us up inside to watch all the vigils, but also makes you so proud to know so many of these young men! There is never enough time in ones day to thank each and everyone of these brave hero's, but we make time for other things in our lives. We know things happen and so many have lost their lives, but why are we not stopping and realizing what the armed forces are doing and paying more attention, and the sad part of this is just because, it doesn't hit home. It's always someone elses son, brother, dad, mom and or spouse. IT'S TIME WE AS AMERICANS STOP AND THINK, AND PRAY FOR THEM ALL, NOT IN A TIME OF NEED BUT ALWAYS KEEP THEM IN YOUR HEARTS AND PRAYERS. Light their way home, and please remember all those that have been here and there, when you see them give them a pat on the back, or a smile god only knows they need one. Message: For Matt and his family,

I have known Matt since he enlisted in the Army Reserves. Prior to his leaving for Basic Training my job was to train Matt to get ready to go. I had so much fun with this amazing young man. He tended to get the answers wrong to my questions so he became quite good at doing push-ups in cadence. When Matt returned from BCT and AIT (his job school) he had truly developed into a top notch soldier. Matt always did what he was told without question and was a model soldier. Matt hated driving back and forth to Dayton for his drill weekend so I always tried to get him a room locally and would take him out Saturday nights for wings. This past summer Matt and I went to our 2-week Annual Training at Camp Perry Ohio together. We created many memories driving up together. At one point I accidentally spit on Matt and he remarked 'damm it I can't do anything, you are my Sergeant!' I also let our map blow out of the car on the way home and we had to call his mom (thanks Mrs. Maupin) for directions home. PFC Maupin became more to me than my soldier, I think of him as my little brother. When he received his Fed-EX letter telling him he was getting deployed he called me with so many questions. I hated the fact I was not deploying with Matt but I knew he would be an asset to his new unit. After hearing of his status and seeing him on the news I pray for Matt everyday. I am a teacher at Sinclair Community College and wear my yellow ribbon, keep Matt's picture nearby, and ask all my students to pray for him. Hopefully for those of you who know Matt or even don't know him this gives you a bit of insight into this soldiers life. Please pray for Matt and all of the other soldiers overseas.
